Jump to a Section: Character's Affection Levels, Events or The Harvest Sprites

In Harvest Moon: Back to Nature there are a ton of characters that you can befriend. Like the girls in this videogame they all have their own likes, dislikes, birthdays personalities and schedules. If you become really good friends with a character they'll tell you their favourite recipe. Recipes you cook add to your farm percentage. By becoming realy good friends with these characters you'll also be able to enter the locked rooms in their houses.

Character's Affection Levels

The villagers affection levels in Harvest Moon: Back to Nature work much like the girls however the numbers are all much lower.

All characters start out with 50 affection and can have a maximum of 255 affection in this videogame. There unfortunately isn't really any way to check their affection levels though.

Every night there's a very low percent chance that a character's affection might randomly go down 1 point. As long as you try to talk to people at least somewhat often then this should never be a problem.

As long as you speak to a character once or give them a gift their affection will go up by 1 at the start of the next day in the game.

You can give multiple gifts to a character in the same day and increase your affection with them. You don't get quite as nice an amount of affection from multiple gifts as you do with the girls though.

How the first gift given in a day affects a character's affection levels

Type of Gift Average day, not wrapped Average day, wrapped Birthday, not wrapped Birthday, wrapped
Hated -9 -7 -45 -43
Disliked -3 -1 -15 -13
Neutral +1 +3 +5 +7
Liked +3 +5 +15 +17
Loved +9 +11 +45 +47
Jewelry +3 +5 +15 +17

How additional gifts given in a day affect a character's affection levels

Type of Gift Average day, not wrapped Average day, wrapped Birthday, not wrapped Birthday, wrapped
Hated -9 -10 -45 -50
Disliked -3 -4 -15 -20
Neutral 0 -1 0 -5
Liked 1 0 +5 0
Loved 3 2 +15 +40
Jewelry 1 0 +5 0

There are also a ton of events in Harvest Moon: Back to Nature with these characters that will happen depending on certain conditions. Like the events with the girls however nobody on the Internet seems to know how to trigger most of these events so you're just going to have to play the videogame and hope for the best.

The Harvest Sprites

You can find the Harvest Sprites in the smal hut behind the church. You can ask the sprites to work on your farm doing things such as watering crops, taking care of your animals or harvesting crops. For the record I have never hired the Harvest Sprites to do any work in any of my playthroughs of this videogame.

If you speak to them twice you can get them to work on your farm. During the spring all they talk about is a tea party and you'll have to speak to them 5 times to get them to do any work for you.

The Harvest Sprites have heart levels that go up every 25 affection points. They also lose 2 affection every time you make them work.

They also have a hidden skill level for various jobs that starts out at 0 for each job. As you get them to do work for you this skill level will go up by one point and they'll eventually get less terrible at doing the work. The maximum skill level for each job is 255 points.

The harvest sprites in this videogame all like and dislike the same things and they gain affection at the same rate as the villagers. They all have different birthdays which are listed below.
